2019 AQHA Gelding

14.3 HH

If you have always had a soft spot for that true Grullo color, Sandy is one you will really enjoy taking a look at. Sandy is every bit as eye-catching as he is dependable. With his bold dorsal stripe, dark legs, and striking black mane and tail, he is the kind that naturally turns heads wherever he goes. His bright, kind eyes, solid bone structure, and correct conformation complete a nice, well-balanced package. But Sandy is much more than just a pretty face, he is the kind of horse you can genuinely enjoy in a wide variety of settings.

He has been ridden miles through the trails in the woods, across open fields, over logs and rocks, and through creeks. Water is of no concern to him, and he stays confident and careful with his footing in all types of terrain. He has also been on state roads and smaller country roads in traffic, and he handles it all with a quiet, steady mind, never getting rattled or distracted.

Sandy is the kind you can enjoy in many ways—ride him today, trail ride him tomorrow and then let the kids or grandkids enjoy him with confidence. He has that kind, willing disposition that makes him easy to be around, both on the ground and under saddle. He enjoys attention, stands quietly, and will soak up all the scratches you want to give him.

Under saddle, Sandy is extremely smooth and comfortable, offering a nice walk, trot, extended trot, and a soft, collected lope that feels like you are sitting on silk. He has a natural rhythm and cadence that makes him enjoyable for long rides. He moves out when asked but is also happy to relax and just go with the flow. He knows his leads, has a nice lead change, and has been ridden in both indoor and outdoor arenas.

Whether you ride western, English, or bareback, he remains consistent, soft, and willing. He has also been exposed to tarps, jugs, and whips, and takes everything in stride without hesitation. Nothing bothers him, making him a very dependable and confidence-building partner.

With his calm mind, smooth movement, and willing attitude, we feel Sandy could also do very well in ranch shows. He has the presence, athletic ability, and trainable mind to step into that setting and excel, while still being the same steady, enjoyable horse he is at home and on the trail.

Sandy is truly safe for any level of rider—from beginners, seniors, and advanced riders to anyone in between. He is the kind that can confidently fit a wide range of riders and experience levels without skipping a beat and making you feel good about putting the whole family on. Sandy is up to date on all his vaccinations, deworming, and shoeing, so he is current, cared for, and ready to move forward with his next partner.

At Buckeye Acre Farm in Millersburg, Ohio, horses aren’t just a business—they’re a way of life being passed down through the next generation. Geneva Yoder, 17 years old, is the daughter of the founder of Buckeye Acre Farm and has grown up deeply rooted in the horse world. She is a full-time team member at the farm and has previously been a consigner at Cowgirl Cadillac, bringing experience and confidence well beyond her years. Geneva enjoys trail riding whenever she gets the chance and is also an active member of a drill team, where she has performed at various events and showcased her horsemanship in front of crowds. Her younger sister, Rebekah Yoder, is 8 years old and already following in those same footsteps. As the younger sister, she has been in the saddle since the very first day she could and can often be found riding her pony all over Buckeye Acre Farm. Rebekah is also the daughter of the founder of Buckeye Acre Farm. This is her second sale consignment, and she is quickly becoming comfortable in the sale ring and the horse world she has grown up around.
Together, Geneva and Rebekah are part of the Buckeye Acre Farm team, where the love of horses and a strong family-run operation are built into everything done day after day.
