2022 Draft Cross Gelding
14.1 HH
Fonzie is an absolute sweetheart, quiet as they come, built strong, has done it all on the ranch - and pretty enough to get you noticed everywhere you go! Don’t let his age fool you; this young horse is a gem with a demeanor of an “old soul” and a resume of a veteran horse.
This little guy is more woah than go and would make a great family horse. He will happily go to work if asked, but his preference is to be a chill guy taking in the day. He’s been ridden by handy youth around the farm, been ridden English, and used as a lead line pony in the arena for younger children (under supervision).
Fonzie is an easy going dude who’s been happy to take care of the different levels of riders I’ve put on him - and has even been the horse used by friends learning to rope.
He is a ranch favorite as he’s gentle and quiet enough to take care of green riders, experienced and handy enough to get the ranch job done. He’s spent long days riding pasture, pasture roping and treating, sorting cattle on the ranch and been used at brandings to drag calves to the fire. For a gypsy cross he is surprisingly cowy when asked to track a cow and has impressed many friends with his ability to get the job done on the ranch.
Fonzie has excelled off the ranch as well! Fonzie has completed obstacle challenges, taking to it right off the bat. He has also been introduced to driving and has put to work pulling a sleigh in the winter. He’s been hauled extensively to arenas and pastures, ridden into town, ridden bareback, loaded down with saddle bags and is accustomed to dogs tagging along on rides.
Fonzie has been ridden on multiple overnight trips in the mountains where he has been highlined, made it to mountain summits and crossed rivers. Fonzie is hobble broke, and broke to tether graze as well.
Fonzie rides one handed, is soft in the bridle, has a great stop off your seat and nicely moves off your leg. He side passes and has a quick turn around. He has a lovely gait despite his short stature - he has a super smooth floating lope!
This horse’s quiet unflappable demeanor is unmatched. I haven’t been able to find anything that fazes him - you can even play the drums from the saddle and he doesn’t miss a beat!
If you want a puppy dog personality in an equine size, this is your horse! Fonzie will be your curious barn friend, always the first to the gate to meet you, wanting in on the action. He is happy to meet the rider where they need to be - he’ll hunt down a cow, or he’ll mosey down the road for a quiet bareback ride. Fonzie has endless potential to fit a variety of homes and riders, and is sure to be a favorite in your herd.

Hi! My name is Shannon Kavanagh and I consider myself lucky I get to live the cowgirl dream everyday: training horses and preparing them for their long term partner!
My focus in training is to turn out quiet, well rounded horses that have been exposed to a variety of experiences. I enjoy working with young colts, putting a solid foundation on them and ensuring a positive early experience as a saddle horse. I am a firm believer that horses that are taught early how to think through problems are set up for success in life. My program includes desensitization, working cattle, obstacle challenges, outdoor miles with sweaty saddle pads and more. All of my horses make it to the Rocky Mountains, spending 4-7 days in the backcountry – one of my favorite parts of training that has an amazing impact in making a quiet horse that is ready for anything!
