8D Ranch is so proud to offer Sherman! He’s truly a once in a lifetime horse- a diamond. Not only is he stunning; he’s loving, gentle, and a true partner.
Sherman, a 5-year-old registered Friesian Sport Horse (Friesian X Quarter Horse), is built how a horse should be, with great bone and size. Not only does he have a nice handle, he handles with a joyful attitude, as he’s truly happy to be with his humans.
Sherman is a class act. He neck reins, moves off your leg and knows all the tricks (leads, bows or moves to a block to mount, rides bareback, bridle-less or in a halter, self-loads, self-catches, stands for the farrier, and so on).
Sherman is an outstanding ranch horse, but he’s such a gorgeous mover, he could easily move into western dressage and the show pen. He’s already experienced with Equine Trail Sport competitions (with 1st place awards!). Sherman has a big ground covering lope. He walks out confidently with purpose, or scales back his pace if his rider desires it.
Nothing phases Sherman, he’s calm, dependable, forgiving, and always respectful. His willing attitude makes every ride enjoyable, for the entire family. And he truly wants to be APART of your family.
Sherman is comfortable in the arena or out on the trail. He’s confidently footed, crosses obstacles with ease and care, and he learns quickly. Sherman is experienced with ATV’s, dogs, wildlife, and traffic. He doesn’t care if he’s leading, in the middle, or bringing up the rear… set your pace and ride.
Sherman can pasture with anyone; from yearling fillies as a babysitter, to grouchy broodmares (who also end up loving him), geldings, donkey’s, mini’s, mules, goats, cats and dogs. He’s uncomplicated.
He’s conformationally correct, sound, with a beautiful face and kind eye. His ground manners are impeccable so you can trust even the smallest of cowgirls with him, despite his non-pony package.
Sherman has been hauled extensively to attend clinics, he has been a demo horse in clinics, for competitions, and to trail ride. He transitions and settles in quickly, without drama.
We believe truly broke family horses need to experience many situations/people, not just our routine at 8D Ranch. Like children, it takes a village of special cowgirls, to expand them fully.
During his development, Sherman has spent twelve months traveling around the United States with our talented equine partner, Lillian Rome (LR Horsemanship), an international clinician between the USA & Australia. During this time, he’s not only become a completely polished citizen, but he’s become very well acquainted with change, new/temporary stables, long hours in the trailer, and new equine friends.
