Let's get something straight right up front:
Rule #1 - Don't make any short jokes!
Vertically challenged or not, the truth is, Tarzan never listened to anyone who pointed out how small he was. Therefore he doesn't believe he is, and in the 6 years that we've owned him, we haven't ever doubted his capabilities. To be honest, he has more guts and try than any two horses combined. And his personality is bursting at the seams!
Nothing can melt you faster than his big brown eyes, they are so expressive and kind. Everything about him fits perfectly together from his profile to his easy movement. With his easy transitions and smooth gates, awesome steering and fancy features when you ask for them, he is a favorite with our lesson clients. This horse is the little horse who could! He can have a huge stop and pretty spins, and his lead changes are a plus maneuver for sure.
Don't have time to ride every day? Take months off and put lesson kids on and Tarzan will be happy to take them around like he has ridden yesterday. Not only do we trust him in that scenario, we also took him to town for an 11 year old lesson girl to show all day at a Ranch Horse Show. Whether it was in the ring with 20 other horses, or taking her solo through the ranch riding pattern, he was a pure gentleman. Quite frankly he loved all the extra attention he received that day too!
One of Tarzan's favorite hobby is team roping. He can roll around the corner from the heel side, put you in perfect position and not budge an inch when he's hooked up to a 500 lb. steer. Getting to fast cattle - no need to worry whatsoever, this guy will not be outrun. His expression says it all when he sees the roping steers loaded up, everything about him loves this sport. If there's ever been a breakaway prospect at our place, it'd have to be Tarzan. His potential is only limited by me, I have no roping talent, but he will pretend I do and give me a shot every time.
Besides the arena Tarzan also enjoys the great wide open as well. For years he has traveled out west to help gather, doctor, and brand. There's no doubt he looks forward to this trip as much as we do. He is a dependable partner for all the things encountered on the ranch or trail.
There's a reason we have kept this titan around for 6 years, every one of us loves what he has to offer. It was a hard choice to consign him, but we know he is ready to make someone else just as happy!
