We originally trained this amazing gelding and he went through our program until he was 5 years old. We trained him to cut and sort cattle, rope steers, perform reining maneuvers and used him all over the ranch. We sold Houston to a family for their grandkids to have their first horse. They absolutely loved this precious gelding. For 7 years they learned to ride, took lessons, and began showing him in 4-H and local competition in several events. Cutting, Reining, Ranch Riding, Timed Events, Showmanship and Western Pleasure to name a few. He took amazing care of his beginner riders and allowed them to learn and advance. As they got older they lost interest in riding and the grandparents sent him back to us, knowing we would find another family that would love and appreciate him.
Houston is truly the definition of Been-There-Done-That. He is as honest as the day is long and has the patience of a saint. He will stand like a wooden soldier at the mounting block to mount and dismount or will easily lay down with a touch of finger. If you don't ride him all winter, just saddle him up with confidence, get on and go as if you had him in a steady program. He will ride just the same as the way you left him. Gentle and safe.
Houston has the smoothest gaits with an slow jog and rocking chair lope. He will only go as fast as you ask and has a complete off switch. This gelding is worth his weight in gold to the right home. He does anything and everything you would want to do horseback and will give you the confidence you are looking for in a trustworthy partner.
Arena work, ranch, or trails Houston is happy to be your number one all around one stop shop. We have had him back in our barn for a year and he's the same amazing horse, only aged like fine wine.
