2019 AQHA Gelding

14.3 HH

Meet your new sorting partner, Tom Cruz. A 7 year old cow-bred Quarter Horse gelding with the talent, experience, and mental maturity demanded at a high level of competition. He is naturally cowy, extremely athletic, and exceptionally broke, making him a serious contender in the sorting pen while remaining a pleasure to ride.
Tom Cruz is well-seasoned on cattle and confident in high-pressure situations. He reads cattle early, stays locked in the hole, and maintains the perfect balance of authority and control without ever getting frazzled or overreactive. His quick feet, strong stop, and smooth transitions allow his rider to stay effective and competitive every run.
His striking golden palomino color is matched by a correct, eye-catching build and undeniable presence. He is balanced, fluid in his movement, and carries himself with a quiet confidence that reflects both talent and training.
Outside the arena, Tom Cruz has extensive mountain and open-country mileage. He handles challenging terrain, uneven footing, and long days with ease — building the kind of mental toughness, sure-footedness, and reliability that elevate a horse from good to exceptional.
Tom Cruz is a refined, honest gelding that stays consistent, handles pressure, and gives his rider the confidence to walk into any pen knowing they are mounted on a horse built to perform.

I’m Karla Allen, a horse trainer based in Clearmont, Wyoming, and the owner of KR Horsemanship. I truly love what I do and take pride in developing high-end, amateur-friendly horses that are safe, confident, and enjoyable for real people to own and ride. My goal has always been to create horses that make their riders feel comfortable, capable, and excited to walk into the barn.
I believe the best horses come from patience, consistency, and clear communication. Through KR Horsemanship, I focus on building solid foundations and willing minds, always keeping the end rider in mind. I want the horses that leave my program to be the kind you trust—whether you’re riding alone, with friends, or bringing your kids along to the barn.
Family is at the heart of everything I do. I share this life with my husband and our two-year-old daughter, and being a mom has shaped my program in the best way. It’s reinforced how important safety, honesty, and longevity truly are. The barn is part of our everyday life, and I’m proud that KR Horsemanship reflects a family-forward, welcoming environment.
Every horse I work with is treated as an individual, and every partnership matters to me. Surrounded by the wide-open spaces of northern Wyoming, I’m grateful to build horses—and relationships—rooted in trust, respect, and a genuine love for the process.
