2012 Sorrel AQHA Mare

14.2 HH

Whether you're looking for a barrel horse, a ranch versatility horse, or a horse that could pack kids around at the 4H, Macy is the horse for you. Macy is everything one could want in a mare, athletic, pretty, and gentle. Macy has been a very large part of our family for some time now and is a good horse to the bone, she is also the first horse we raised.

Macy was started and owned by a reining trainer for some time after we sold her as a weanling, she is very broke and at one point could do all the reining maneuvers. I am sure that with a little tune up she could be back in the show pen. Macy is a very pretty mover with a nice extended trot. She collects beautifully and would excel in a ranch versatility show pen. She can have ropes swung all around her and has been roped off of on the sled a handful of times. With her training background I am sure she could do great as a breakaway or heel horse.

Last year I started Macy on the barrel pattern and have been running her since. She has a great disposition about her at barrel races, always walks flat footed and never gets hot even coming out after a run. She runs 3D times but has been in the 2D at smaller barrel races, I think she would be a great fit for someone looking for an easy and reliable horse to run.

I have used Macy for kids lessons for almost a year now, ages ranging from 4-12 and kids of all different riding skills. She is one of those special horses that can sense when a beginner is on her back and really is sure to take care of them. My 3 and 5 year old little brothers climb all around her, between her legs, and can lead her around...she is gentle as the day is long.

My mom owned Macy's dam for a little while, she was a great mare who is said to have earned some money in reined cow horse. With old school cow bred bloodlines like hers she would make an excellent broodmare someday down the road. Macy is very nurturing and lives in a pasture with weanlings, she has a strong maternal instinct even on foals that aren't hers.

Macy can go in a full English set up and has a beautiful trot that would compliment her well in competition. She is not one you have to beg to go forward but is not ahead of you and waits on your cues. She would be great for someone wanting to start her in the hunter jumpers. She could be the best of the both worlds for one wanting to do a little bit of everything.

Don't let the "sorrel mare stigma" fool you, if you're looking for a good, honest horse that will take care of whoever is on their back, Macy is your gal.

My name is Rachel Kenyon, I am 20 years old, and I have had a strong passion a for horses since I can remember. I live on my parents ranch in Myrtle, MO, where I raise and train my own horses, as well as outside horses. My mom and I started 225 Quarter Horses together last year because we wanted to create a brand of horses who are gentle and versatile. I started out just a kid in 4H on horses who cost less than $500. I am proud to say I have worked my way up from those 4H horses all the way to the amazing lineup of horses I have in my pasture today. I competed in CHSRA (California High School Rodeo Association) for 4 years before going on to work for some great reining and reined cow horse trainers. I eventually made my way to MO and still go to barrel races frequently. While I loved all aspects of reined cow horse, my ultimate passion is barrel racing and I one day plan to make it as a barrel futurity trainer. I am very thankful for every horse who has helped me every step of the way, my motto is and always will be, "Love the horse first and the sport second", as there is no doubt in my mind I will always be that horse girl at heart.

I was blessed enough to sell a great horse at the 2024 Cowgirl Cadillacs sale in Wyoming and am very excited to be back. I strive to create quality horses who will take their owners far.
