2021 Draft Cross Gelding

16.2 HH

Some horses have a way of finding the softest place in your heart — and staying there. “Groot” is one of those rare, once-in-a-lifetime souls who reminds you why you fell in love with horses in the first place. He’s not just gentle… he’s unbelievably kind and safe. The kind who radiates goodness from the inside out.

I’m quite certain Groot came into this world with an old soul and a kind heart. He’s steady, soft-eyed, and honest in everything he does — the kind of horse you dream about finding, but almost never do.

There’s not a thing we’ve shown him that’s rattled his cage. Tarps, bullwhips, gunfire, bouncing balls — you name it, he’s taken it in stride. Groot’s not just desensitized, he’s trustworthy. You feel it the moment you meet him and even more so when you swing a leg over. Whether it’s a child, a first timer, or a lifelong rider, everyone feels safe and confident on him.

Under saddle, he’s smooth as glass — his jog is effortless, his lope is like riding a rocking chair. He transitions easily, stays level-headed, and carries himself with confidence. Groot is that rare combination of calm and athletic — responsive when you ask, but never overly reactive.

Trail riding, arena work, parades, obstacles, or just poking around the farm — Groot takes it all in stride. He’s surefooted, steady, and patient, whether he’s riding alone or in a group.

Unbelievably GENTLE — he is the kind you can hand to anyone.

He’ll lay down on cue, sit like a dog, and still stand quietly while you brush him, braid his mane, or just spend time loving on him. Groot loves people and attention; he’s as affectionate as he is reliable.

Structurally, he’s everything you’d want in a draft cross: strong, balanced, and built to last with excellent bone, great feet, and substance without coarseness. His striking presence turns heads everywhere he goes — but it’s his gentle heart that makes him unforgettable.

Whether you’re looking for a dependable trail partner, a family-safe babysitter, or a one-in-a-million gelding to enjoy for years to come — Groot is that horse.

Megan Profile

A lifelong dedication to building reliable, family-friendly horses has been a driving force for Megan, and this tradition is now being carried on by her daughter, Teagan. Their sincere connections with both their horses and their customers are evident in everything they do.

Megan’s love for horses began at just three years old and has shaped her entire life. Megan and her husband, Andy, are excited to see their children, Wyatt (12) and Teagan (10), share the same passion for horses. Together, the family owns and operates Hansen Performance Horses, where they focus on  training well-rounded horses. Their horses are exposed to a variety of disciplines, from team roping to trail riding, ranching, and even jumping. It’s also common for them to compete at ranch horse shows, where Teagan proudly won her first buckle!

Megan and Teagan are both committed to understanding each horse's unique strengths and personality. Through individualized training, they ensure that every horse is represented honestly and matched with the right person.
