Xena

2020 Mare

14.3 HH

Not just a pretty face! Xena has been my go to horse for 2 years. Safe, sound, and sane. This mare is no stranger to long days on the trail. Same ride every day, not mare-ish at all. She has been through rivers, mud, rocks, bridges, and up and down mountains. We have encountered elk herds multiple times on the trail and she just watches them go by. Very sure footed and takes care of her rider. Never a moment of hesitation, she is game for anything. We have moved cows in the pasture and she has lived with them. I have swung a rope off of her and drug various things, as well as heeled a few steers in the ranch roping pen.

Last year she competed in extreme cowboy all season with lots of wins including provincial champion and overall reserve champion in two associations. She crosses everything with no hesitation, and has demonstrated a high level of agility for the technical obstacles. She has flying changes, rollbacks, spins, sidepass and stops well. This sport really tests how broke a horse is-and she has passed every test with flying colors! She has been an absolute blast to compete on. She guides around the arena beautifully and is very responsive to her rider. I have taken her to multiple rodeos and fairs for competitions, as well as the Calgary Stampede grounds for the Aggie Days extreme cowboy race.

Xena is quiet, gentle and absolutely LOVES children. I have 5 year old twin girls that have loved on this mare for 2 years. They can halter her, pick out her feet, lead her around, and ride in the arena by themselves. Definite kids horse potential here. She loves any and all attention-brushing, scratches, treats. No bridle, no saddle, no problem! Xena rides around bareback and bridleless just the same as tacked up. I have ponied colts off of her lots as well. Of course, she is good to bathe, clip, shoe, load, haul, tie, high line and is hobble trained.

Nadine Dumont's journey with horses began at a young age, on a horse before she could walk. She grew up competing in three day eventing, but never felt at home in that world. As an adult she began dabbling in western disciplines and found her niche.

Eager to expand her knowledge and experience, she worked under multiple reputable trainers starting young horses. Her philosophy centres on developing a foundation of trust and respect, creating a horse that looks to its rider for guidance. In recent years, she began competing in extreme cowboy. The combination of speed and agility caught her attention, and she is hooked on this sport. Extreme cowboy courses can have any combination of tons of different obstacles-all testing the horses training and ability to work under pressure. This pushes Nadine to be better and better, and have horses that rise to the occasion and exceed expectations every time they enter the ring.

When Nadine isn't at a horse show, she is lost in the woods with a good horse, good dogs, and good friends. There's nothing better for the soul than time spent in the saddle.
